Holy Crap, The New Ford Expedition Has An Epic New Dashboard Speaker
The Ford Expedition got a massive makeover for 2025 to battle against the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and the fresh-faced Nissan Armada. It’s a full-size family hauler ready to conquer American highways, with an optional camper trailer pulled behind.
What sticks out most is the new speaker design the Expedition gets for next year. As you can see in the photo above, the cascading dash supports a soundbar that can be specced by Bang & Olufsen. It’s a welcome change in design compared to what’s typical in mass production vehicles, which usually comprise of circular speakers in the lower door sections. Expect the new Expo to be reveled by audiophiles.
But why was the soundbar incorporated here? Because the 24-inch display that sits in front of the driver is half of a 48-inch display that is apparent in the just-as-new Lincoln Navigator, the Ford’s luxury twin. With the two sharing more in common beneath the skin, the Expedition takes advantage of the tech already sitting in the dashboard and utilizes it for a different purpose.
Beyond a fresh face, the 2025 Ford Expedition is less than revolutionary. The twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 carries over to make 400 horsepower and even more torque. Notable talking points include a split-open tailgate and semi-automated Blue Cruise that lets you take your hands off in certain driving situations. You can tow nearly 10,000 pounds without the need for a pickup truck.
In all, the new Expedition is a vehicle that’s worth looking forward to when it goes on sale next year.
If you’re new to this Substack, I try to see the appeal of new features and design elements that make holding onto a car longer worth it. The same is true for used cars.
