I'm Back! Time For A Mini Reboot
Let me start with a thank you for the folks who subbed to my blog (you know who you are). It’s something I’m keeping close to heart, even if I have been lacking the last couple months. The start of the year has been interesting, kicking off with the worst flu I’ve ever had, trying to stick it out a while longer in Texas, and now the move to Arizona is on my plate.
Life just happens. I was almost tempted to publish this yesterday but that would mean coming off as a joke. Nothing this year has been a joke. I’m doing my best to roll with the punches and finally, a clearer vision has come forward, one that lets me take this blog with it. I have never wanted to stop reading and writing. But something’s up when my annual book count from 2022 goes from 16 to 4 last year. This year, I haven’t finished a single thing. It’s depressing, and I want it to stop.
The career path in limbo is the main catalyst that’s prompting the move. It’s how I can get back on my feet while I’m still young. I graduated college only to land in lockdown weeks later, with never a genuine opportunity to strut my stuff; only showing my full potential in small doses.
I don’t know what comes next. I only know that I want the writing to continue, to keep covering cars because it seems I am often the contrarian irregardless of the group I’m in. Dreams and complaints associated with cars while I’m asking the necessary question: “Do you see yourself having it in ten years?”
At that point, it doesn’t matter if the vehicle in question is a shitbox or an award winner. Nobody remembers when The Last Emperor won Best Picture in 1987. But Forrest Gump stays in the topic of conversation, even as it’s not the most critically revered. The same can apply to cars. Motor Trend nominated the Chevrolet Vega as Car Of The Year , and reviled its errs in an article decades later. My purpose is essentially to explore the psychology between people and their wheels.
How will I pull that off? That remains to be seen. But in terms of what that means for WAC, I will post more, now that I know where life’s going for the moment. All I can say at this juncture is stay tuned.
And thank you again in the future.
